Corporate Diwali Gifts That Don't Get Re-Gifted
Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, with Dhanteras on Friday 6 November. Somewhere in the next three weeks, someone at your company will be asked to sort out gifting for the team, the clients, or both.
Here is what usually happens to what you send. It is opened at a desk, assessed in about four seconds, and sorted into one of three piles: keep, share with the office, or take home for someone else. Dry fruit boxes go in pile two. Branded merchandise mostly goes in pile three.
This guide is about landing in pile one.
The four-second test
Before approving anything, ask one question about the gift in front of you:
Would the recipient have bought this for themselves?
Not "is it nice." Not "does it look expensive." Would they have chosen it. A gift that clears that bar gets used, gets seen by their family, and gets remembered in January. A gift that fails it becomes something to be polite about.
Most corporate gifting fails this test for a predictable reason. It is chosen to look generous to the person approving the budget, rather than to be useful to the person receiving it.
The logo problem
Almost every corporate gifting supplier will offer to put your company's logo on the gift. It feels like the obvious move. You are spending the money, so you want the brand recall.
It works against you.
A logo converts a gift into marketing material, and people handle marketing material differently from gifts. A plain glass goes in the kitchen cupboard. The same glass with a vendor's logo goes to the back of the cupboard, or to a cousin. Your recipient did not choose to advertise for you in their own home, and a logo asks them to.
There is also a status signal in it. An unbranded gift says we chose something good for you. A branded one says we had these made. Senior clients read that difference instantly.
Brick Brown does not offer logo engraving or custom-printed packaging on corporate orders, and that is deliberate. What arrives is the same piece a customer would buy for their own home.
If your goal is brand recall, put it on the card that comes with the gift, not on the object that has to live in someone's kitchen for the next five years.
Tier your recipients before you shortlist anything
One gift for a list of 200 people is how budget gets wasted at both ends: too much spent on junior recipients, too little on the relationships that matter.
Three tiers is usually enough.
Tier 1 — the wide list. Most employees, and clients you deal with occasionally. The goal is something genuinely useful at a sensible cost per head. A single well-made piece beats a box of several small ones. Our gifts under ₹1,999 range is built for exactly this tier.
Tier 2 — key clients and senior team. This is where a complete, ready-to-give set earns its place. A curated gift set arrives finished, so it looks considered the moment it is opened, which matters when gifts are unwrapped in front of colleagues.
Tier 3 — leadership and your most important accounts. Smaller list, higher spend, and the one place a statement piece is appropriate. A serving tray or a table or wall lamp works because both get used in the parts of a home where guests are received.
Price the tiers separately. A flat per-head figure across the whole list almost always produces a gift that is slightly wrong for everybody.
What works, and what to avoid
Works well
- Things used daily in a kitchen or at a table. Trays, serving pieces, storage. Used often, seen by the family, no taste required from you.
- Warm lighting. A lamp suits every kind of home and gets switched on the first evening.
- Pieces that arrive complete. No assembly, no hunting for the right wrapping, no missing component.
Avoid
- Consumables, unless you know the household. Sweets and dry fruit are shared, finished and forgotten inside a week, and dietary preferences across a large list are unknowable.
- Branded merchandise. See above.
- Anything fragile. It will be couriered, often to a residential address, often in festive-week traffic.
- Large or bulky items. Many recipients live in compact homes. A gift that demands floor space is a problem with a ribbon on it.
- Anything that needs a plug and a manual. Gadget gifting ages badly and competes with what the recipient already owns.
Ordering: what to plan around
Minimum order: 50 pieces for corporate pricing and handling.
Lead time: this depends on quantity and how many delivery locations you need, so the honest answer is to ask rather than to guess from a table. Send us your quantity, your tiers and your delivery cities and we will confirm the cut-off date for Dhanteras delivery.
Two things worth knowing regardless of supplier. Handmade stock is finite, so the best pieces sell through before the festival rather than after. And courier networks across India congest sharply in the week before Diwali, which means a delivery that takes two days in September can take five in early November.
If you are reading this in the last week of October, shorten your shortlist and place the order rather than running another round of approvals.

A checklist before you approve
- Recipient count per tier, confirmed, not estimated
- Budget per tier, priced separately
- One delivery address, or many? Multi-site and home deliveries change the timeline more than quantity does
- Who signs the cards, and are they written or printed
- A named contact at the supplier, not a general inbox, once the order is live
- A small buffer quantity, because the list always grows after it is finalised
Frequently asked questions
When is Diwali 2026? Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, with Dhanteras on Friday 6 November. Most corporate gifts are delivered in the week leading up to Dhanteras.
When should companies order corporate Diwali gifts? Earlier than feels necessary. Handmade stock runs out before the festival, and courier networks slow considerably in the final week. For a specific cut-off date, share your quantity and delivery cities with your supplier and ask them to confirm in writing.
What is a good corporate Diwali gift for employees? Something used daily in a kitchen or at a table: a serving piece, kitchen storage, or a lamp. The test is whether the recipient would have bought it themselves.
Should corporate gifts carry our company logo? We would say no. A logo turns a gift into marketing material, and recipients treat it that way. Put your brand on the card instead of on the object someone has to keep in their home.
What is the minimum order for corporate gifting at Brick Brown? 50 pieces.
Can you deliver to multiple offices or to employees' homes? Yes, and it is the single biggest factor in the timeline, more than quantity. Share your full list of delivery locations when you enquire so the schedule reflects it.
What should we avoid sending? Consumables for a list you do not know well, branded merchandise, fragile items, and anything bulky. Each of these has a predictable failure mode in corporate gifting.
How do we split the budget across employees and clients? Tier the list rather than setting one flat per-head figure. A wide employee tier, a middle tier for key clients and senior staff, and a small top tier for leadership and major accounts.
